U:BEE Online is an Approved Activity Provider (AAP) for The Duke of Edinburgh's Award. All our courses are designed to help young people complete the 3 or 6-month SKILLS SECTIONS of their DofE.

Why online?
The idea for U:BEE Online originated from one of our young Brand Ambassadors, Helen Davies, who was trying to complete the Skills Section of her Bronze Award which was proving a challenge. She had lots of ideas but none of them fitted into the framework necessary for the SKILLS SECTION.
Either they did not match the length requirements, no one would act as an Assessor, or they were simply too expensive!
We are now helping hundreds of young people achieve the Skills Section of their Award: cost effectively, with full adherence to the DofE's high standards and in an environment where young people are familiar and confident.
Why does it work?
We are conscious of the pressures on many family budgets and wanted to give everyone the chance to complete the Skills Section at a low cost.
The participant chooses from the wide selection of courses: with prices fro just £29-£59 for the 3-month course and £85-£115 for the 6-month courses.
We have a wide-range of courses to choose from, including: life-skills courses like Essential Cooking, First Aid and Designing Your Own Website, to more general courses like Musical Theatre Appreciation and Party Planning.
How does the process work?

The DofE participant choose their course and is sent a comprehensive email, detailing Assessor's contact details, what the goal for the course is and how to make the most out of their Skills Section participation.

On enrolment, the participant has full access to their personal Learner's Dashboard, where content is delivered on a weekly basis, over a 3 month or 6 month period.

The content is a mixture of instructional and informative videos, tasks to complete, suggestions to enhance their understanding, as well as valuable learning information.

Each week the participant takes a Knowledge Check based on that week's information, to check they are consistently improving their understanding of the subject.

The are prompted at very regular intervals to upload evidence to their e-DofE.

Participants are given access to the U:BEE Weekly Podcast and quarterly online BUZZ magazine.

The are reminded of the minimum time commitment to achieve their Skills Section.

On successful completion of the course, they receive an electronic Completion Certificate and Assessor's Report.
About us
We are a not-for-profit organisation, dedicated to helping proved young people an opportunity to participate and complete part of their DofE Award.
We have a small, conscientious staff who work hard at what we do. Each of us has an Enhanced DBS check. We collect the minimum data needed to make our courses work for the participant.
We will never sell any data to a third party.
We hold comprehensive insurance policies for public liability and product liability
We have no direct contact with participants. The LiveChat facility on our website is manned by us. We do not contract this out to third parties.
We have a thorough and robust Child Protection Policy and comply to all GDPR regulations.

Life for a young person is incredibly pressurised. We'd like to bring back the concept of 'a hobby'. It's something previous generations thrived on. It helps mental wellness.
